The End of an Era

For the past four years, since September 2008, I have been studying the Russian language. I started with an Elementary Russian class and just kept going from there. I took a language class on my year-long study abroad and eventually graduated with a major in Russian language & literature.

Today I would like to announce that I am moving on to a new stage in my life, one without the Russian language. That’s right – I am transitioning to a new field for my future career, one in which I will not need to speak Russian. After all, English is the international language of the world, right? I know it’s the language to know in finance. I spend so much time learning Russian that once I stop, I will have loads of free time to devote to other activities. And if I’m ever in a situation where I need to read something in Russian, I can just hire someone to translate it. That’s what translators are for, right?

So, Russian, I bid you adieu. The past four years have been fun, but it’s time to move on.

Happy April Fools’ Day, everyone! If you believed that, then I accomplished by goal of tricking you! 🙂 I will never, ever, ever stop speaking Russian.

  1. Haha! See, it’s already April 2nd here, so I keep thinking everyone’s blog jokes are real! You only had me up til the translators part, though, that’s when it clicked.

    1. I’m glad I fooled someone, if only for a little bit. 😉 By the way, I miss your blog! I’m sure you’re busy with loads of uni work, but I hope you start writing again soon.
